The most eye-opening thing when I first arrived was the sheer scope of the place. Seeing trucks with wheels twice the size of you really brings home the scale of the operation.
Socially, I had a great time sharing a place with other students on the Program. I made some good friends and because everyone was from different degree disciplines, it helped me to piece together where everyone worked and how things fit together.
I did a bit of everything, but I think what I enjoyed most was that you’d come on site each day and there’d be a new problem to solve. As an engineer there’s a wide range of things to keep your interest and I barely scratched the surface on the Vac Program. Luckily I’m joining the Graduate Program in 2008. I’m really looking forward to the structured program and the chance to keep on learning.
