Newcrest has an 82.5% ownership of PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals and its Gosowong operations on the island of Halmahera, Indonesia. So far mining activities have been in the Toguraci and Gosowong open pits, with the next expansion involving the development of the Kenchana underground mine. The mine employs nearly 1,250 people, mainly Indonesian nationals from the local area and across Indonesia.
