How many graduates is Newcrest searching for?

For our 2012 intake we expect to take on a minimum of 20 graduates from varying disciplines.

When is the application deadline?

Applications must be received by midnight Friday 15th April 2011.

Where could I be based?

Our graduates are typically located at one of our domestic Operations or city offices, with the potential for rotation during the program.

I have applied to Newcrest before – can I re-apply?

If you reached first interview stage last time, then we would welcome your application. Please note that our Graduate Program is targeted at recent graduates with no more than 24 months professional work experience.

Do you pay relocation expenses?

If you have to move to start your role with us, we will meet all reasonable costs associated with your relocation, including:

  • Payment of removal, storage and insurance of furniture and personal effects, plus one car and pets.
  • One-way economy airfares for you and your immediate family.
  • Suitable temporary accommodation for up to 8 weeks

Relocation assistance for future moves with the company will also be provided. We cannot provide return relocation assistance in the event of termination of employment.

What minimum qualifications do I need to apply?

The minimum qualification is a Bachelors Degree or equivalent in the relevant discipline to which you are applying.

I need a work permit; should I arrange one before I apply?

You can submit your application without having a work permit. If your application is successful and you need a work permit, then we'll support you and help you apply for one. We cannot guarantee that you will obtain a work permit.

Can I defer my start date?

Graduates typically start in January, but we will work with you to identify a start date that suits you and Newcrest. Typically, we would not defer your commencement any longer than 6 months

I have already graduated and have some work experience; am I eligible to apply?

If you have already completed your degree and have less than 24 months professional work experience you can apply for our Graduate Program.

How should I dress for my interview?

Your first interview will be located in a capital city location. Smart business dress is appropriate. Second interviews are conducted on site. You will be provided with further information on this at this stage of the selection process.

What kind of tests do I have to pass before a job offer is final?

Your offer will be conditional on your achieving your expected results in your degree qualification, passing the Federal Police Security Clearance, satisfactorily meeting the requirements of a medical examination and where required, obtaining a valid work permit for the location you are employed at.
